Alessandro Mochetti - Antique 18th century engraving etching

Beautiful antique 18th century etching print with walnut briar frame. It is an engraving by Alessandro Mochetti (1760 - 1812), an Italian engraver. Biographical information on Alessandro Mochetti is scarce. He was a pupil of Giovanni Volpato and worked mainly with Roman publishers. He participated in the creation of the illustrative tables of the work, co-authored, La Bibbia di Raffaello, published in 1789 by Pietro Paolo Montagnani and which had subsequent editions and contributed with his engravings to illustrating the work Il Duomo di Orvieto. For the series of prints Episodes from the life of Pius VI he engraved the panel Departure from Rome of S.S. Pius VI for Siena escorted by French dragoons followed on the night of February 20, 1798.
