Antique Parisian Empire cup clock in finely chiseled gilded bronze
Antique Empire clock in finely chiseled gilded bronze in the shape of a cup, belonging to France from the early 19th century. The vase shape is typical of the period it belongs to and has a large porcelain dial surrounded by elements in relief. On the side it carries two handles depicting heads of mythological figures. The base is quadrangular in shape and rests on circular-shaped cushion feet. The dial is in porcelain and bears Roman numerals with a Goemans à Orléans signature in the centre. The clock is complete with key and pendulum, the mechanism needs to be serviced. Provenance: France 1820 - 1830.
