Deruta amphora vase in glazed ceramic with classic decorations, 1960s

Amphora vase produced by Grazia Deruta in glazed ceramic, hand-decorated in Greek style with female figures, muses, or goddesses, stylized floral details, and an earthy finish with simulated relief engraving effects. The signature Grazia Deruta Italy on the bottom belongs to the historic Ceramiche Grazia, active in Deruta (PG) since 1960, one of the oldest artistic ceramic workshops in Italy. The style, signature, and finish point to the 1950s and 1960s, consistent with post-war production, when subjects and techniques less traditional than the classic Deruta Renaissance style were also experimented with.
