Lounge chair by William Katavolos for ICF de Padova, 1952
A timeless icon of mid-century modern design, this lounge chair—rarely found in this condition—is the result of the avant-garde vision of the American trio Katavolos, Littell & Kelley, and represents a rare example of the highest-quality Italian production of the 1960s and 1970s curated by ICF De Padova. The chair is a lounge-scale reinterpretation of the famous T-Chair, from which it inherits its bold, sculptural formal language. The sturdy, minimalist frame is made of chromed steel, while the single-piece quilted black leather shell follows a sinuous ergonomic curve that combines comfort with aesthetic theatricality. The padded buttons accentuate the seat's graphic rigor, elegantly enhancing its three-dimensionality.
