Description

Beautiful painting with Neapolitan landscape, Posillipo school, oil on canvas.
Leading to the birth of a true pictorial current of this type is Antonio Pitloo (Anton Sminck van Pitloo), a young Dutchman who arrived in Naples in 1815, after a stay in Paris. Pitloo combines all these pre-landscape instances and was the first to introduce in Naples the technique of painting en plein air, in the open air, typical of the French Impressionists, painting the most classic landscapes of the Neapolitan city in splendid oils rich in light and chromatic effects.
