Soriana armchair and ottoman by Tobia Scarpa for Cassina in brown leather, 1970s

Soriana armchair and ottoman designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa, produced in Italy by Cassina around the 1970s. The rich chocolate brown leather and foam padding show the natural signs of aging in their characteristic round and voluminous shape. The concept behind the Soriana series was to express a comfortable design where a bundle of fabric or leather was held together by chromed metal clamps. The armchair has wheels only on the front side, while the pouf has wheels on all 4 sides.
The "Soriana" series won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1970.
